A collection of ephemera related to Bauer Type Foundry, in Frankfurt, including: a stapled booklet of Venus Typefaces; a similar booklet for Folio typefaces; a small booklet of Bauer Types and a perfect bound booklet entitled 'For your Guidance: Bauer Type Foundry, Frankfurt am Main' , also listing available types (4 items in total). The latter 2 items refer to the Soldans Company in Theobalds Road, London but appear to be published in Germany. All items are clearly aimed at the English market and are largely in English. All items are undated but the Folio booklet has a very neat signature form the original owner, dated 1965, to the front cover . All are in very good condition, for their age. Ideally suited to anyone interested in the history of printing or in the Bauer company.

Paperback. Zustand: Very Good. New York: Bauer Type Foundry, Inc. G8 pp. 26.5 x 19 cm. Stiff card wrappers printed in black and pink; stringbound. Not dated, but has a stamp on rear (in Trafton Script) cover that states "United States Design Patent / No. 95876, Issued June 4th, 1935". Some age toning and soil to covers, with small dampstain to bottom corner of front cover at spine. Some light creasing and light wear to corners. Interior clean and unmarked. Binding sound. The Trafton Script typeface was designed by the New York artist and designer Howard Allen Trafton, and was released by Bauer in 1933. He was responsible for this and other typefaces such as Cartoon, Fresko, and Quick. Soft Cover. Very Good.

Set in Weiss Rundgotisch and printed in reddish-brown and black on wover paper. Profusely decorated with wood-engraved vignettes by Fritz Kredel. Semi-stiff wrappers decorated and titled on the front. A near fine copy. Designed by E.R. Weiss. A calligraphic type following the German style of the period and leaning on black letter, but also Italian and Spanish manuscript writing. Descenders are very short.

Covers a little spotted. A very good copy. The Bauer version of the Bodoni types was than any others and not adopted by any other foundry.

Contents fine, wrappers a little soiled. Designed by Lucien Bernhard as a text and display type. Distinguishing marks are the cross-over W and tilted O.

Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. 1st Edition. Set in Folio-Grotesk and printed on handmade Hahnemuhle paper. Illustrated with 25 wood-engravings (including a few repeats). Reddish-brown paper-covered boards, titled in black up the spine with an additional wood-engraving on the front. Presentation inscription on rear blank, otherwise a fine copy. Folio (1957-1962) was designed by Konrad Bauer and Walter Baum. It is a sans serif following early nineteenth century models. There are seventeen versions of the basic design. Signed by Author(s).

Soft cover. Zustand: Very Good. A particularly attractive specimen, printed in many weights and colours with attractive examples; printed folder in red and black, slightly soiled. A very good copy Ascenders and descenders are short. The condensation of the letters is achieved by flattening the sides of the round letters. Serifs are very thin.

Designed by Walter Plata. Small square 4to, original wrappers with wood cut by Stiller, housed in the original black card envelope. A very good copy. A type specimen especially for the New York City friends of Bauer Alphabets printed in Folio Medium Extended, Bauer Bodoni, Fortuna, Weiss, venus, Futura etc.
