(red cloth with pictorial paste-on label on front cover, title/author label on spine; no dust jacket) [good sound copy with just minor bumping and light wear to the extremities, some smudging on the front-cover pictorial label, and with a somewhat unsightly brown stain on the fore-edge affecting the first one-third of the book (page edges only; no staining on the interior) and a couple of diagonally-creased upper page corners; vintage bookseller's label (Hollywood Book Store, "Opposite Hollywood Hotel") on rear pastedown]. Adapted as a 1928 silent film (apparently no longer extant) by the Fox Film Corporation, starring Mary Astor, Matt Moore and Sally Eilers.
