This book is part of the publisher's 'Notable British Trials' series. The first volume of the series was published in 1905, and it has now become a comprehensive library of historical and criminal…trials embracing the most famous British cause celebres from 1586. This volume covers the trial of Robert Wood, known as the Camden Town Case, for a murder which took place in Camden Town, London, in 1907. Robert Wood, an artist, was tried for the murder of sex worker Emily Dimmock and acquitted after a defence by Edward Marshall Hall. The book is bound in the original red cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine and a blind-stamped publisher's emblem on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with light shelf wear to the boards and damp marking and a bow to the top 1 1/2" of the rear board. The spine ends are lightly bumped. The contents are tight and clean with a light red stain on part of the top edge and near the middle of the text block. The free endpapers are browned but there is no inscription.
