Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s. Lewis Stone stars as an actor who repeatedly confesses to murders he didn't commit, hoping the police won't believe him when he confesses to a real murder. 10 x 8 inches. First Draft script for an unproduced film. Laid in with the script is a brief typed letter,dated May 14, 1968, addressed to agent Irene Heymann, introducing the script. A cold-hearted mob boss is jailed on a vagrancy charge, and seeks vengeance upon his release. Screenwriter Sy Bartlett worked as a screenwriter and producer for four decades, most notably co-writing "Sergeant Murphy" (1938) and "13 Rue Madeleine" (1946), and producing "Cape Fear" (1962). Blue titled wrappers, noted as First Draft and Production No. 8864, dated February 17, 1967, with credits for screenwriter Sy Bartlett. Title page present, dated February 17, 1967, with credits for screenwriter Sy Bartlett. 147 leaves, with last page of text numbered 144. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only.
