Two volumes bound in one. 128 & 116pp. Illustrated with two extra engraved title pages, a portrait and map in Vol. 1 and an engraved frontispiece in Vol. 2 and 116 full-page engraved scenic plates with tissue guards and captions. Collated and complete. A later printing of this ambitious work originally issued in monthly parts by the London publisher George Virtue in 1842. OCLC dates this New York edition between 1865 and 1875 based on the street address of the publisher on the title page. The binding is scuffed and worn though quite sound, with some fraying to the upper spine and front cover corners. The text is very good with some scattered foxing and spotting. A few of plates have some heavier foxing in the margins although most are quite clean. Foreign postage extra on this large and heavy book.
