Dennis p56. Not in Lande or Gagnon. - Jacob Bailey (1731-1808), an Anglican minister from Massachusetts, emigrated to Nova Scotia after the American Revolution. His diaries give a valuable account of the Loyalist migration of 1782-83. Thefacsimile letter is by Bailey's friend, John Adams, who later became the second President of the United States.

Dennis p56. Not in Lande or Gagnon. - Jacob Bailey (1731-1808) was a pioneer missionary of the Church of England in Maine from 1760 to 1779. Remaining loyal to the British Crown during the American Revolution, Reverend Bailey took refuge in Nova Scotia. His diaries give a valuable account of the Loyalist migration of 1782 to 1783. An Appendix gives biographies of some of the prominent clergy Loyalists. Jacob Bailey died in Annapolis, Nova Scotia in 1808.
