Brown leather like buckram hardback is in very good condition. Embossed gilt emblem on front cover with gilt titling on the spine. Chapelle Notre-Dame de Bonsecours, Montreal bookplate on front end paper along with a manuscript notation in ink on opposite end paper "22 Volumes of Harpers Miscellany. The name "Charles Alexander" is written on the title page, supposedly the former owner. Special thick paper and deckled page edges. Back end papers has the remnants of library cards that look like they were removed. Respectible institutional provenance and also the Simpson's Strait chart is present. This is a recognized work in the field of Arctic exploration, which is a well-established collecting specialty.
