The life of Elisabeth of Wied, the first queen of Romania as the wife of King Carol I, who was a prolific writer under the name Carmen Sylva. She wrote poems, plays, novels, short stories, essays, collections of aphorisms in German, Romanian, French and English. Translated by Baroness Deichmann, a little-known translator. In the original green cloth binding with gilt. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Minor fading to the spine and a mark to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot or handling mark. Light spotting to the first and last few pages with minor age toning. Contemporary ink inscription to the front pastedown. Very Good. book.
