Hardcover. Zustand: Good. "This book by K. C. Barnaby, author of the classic work Basic Naval Architecture, throws a quite new and intriguing light on the circumstances attending many well-known ship disasters. The ship disasters that are described should be looked upon as part of the price that has been paid to obtain present-day safety at sea. They have been examined to see what design errors were involved and where improvements are still possible. In the course of this examination, a number of wrong findings have been noticed and commented upon. The author's systematic research and coverage of his subject has resulted in a detailed analysis and authoritative review of every type of ship disaster: merchant ships and warships, dangerous ships and dangerous cargoes, collisions and fire, submarines, car ferries and tankers."Ex military library stock so expect to see light wear and possible markings and annotations in the text.
