Da bot ein gräßliches Schauspiel sich ihren Blicken dar; in dem Keller des Barbiers . fanden sie zehn Leichname längs der Mauer aufgehängt . Unverzüglich wurden die beiden in die Gewölbe des Chatelet geworfen, und ihr Prozeß am Gerichtshof von la Tournelle schnell eingeleitet; es wurde bewiesen, daß seit 5 Jahren, so lange dieser abscheuliche Handel gedauert hatte, 143 Personen von des Barbiers Messer geschlachtet worden waren.
