In den Warenkorbpaperback. Zustand: Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing, fanning, inscriptions, margin notes, yellowing, staining on edge or cover or pages, bumps, scuffs, etc etc (sometimes multiple of these). It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.

Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: very good. First edition. First edition (stated) Hardcover. 375 pp. with index. Illustrated with photographs. Fine, touch of offsetting to the endpapers. In very good dust jacket with rubbing to the edges and a coprner stain upper rear panel. One of the cornerstone sports related books of the 20th century, the autobiography of boxing great Rocky Graziano (1919-1990). Born Thomas Rocco Barbella in Brooklyn, his father was a boxer with a brief fighting record under the name Fighting Nick Bob. The family moved to Manhattan's East Village neighborhood where Rocky was a tough and tumble street fighter who spent years in reform school, jail , and Catholic protectories. Graziano won some Manhattan amateur boxing competitions. He continued to find trouble with the law; in 1940 he was sent to an upstate New York correctional facility (his friend Jake LaMotta was there as well). Joining the Army after his release, he would up in trouble again after punching a captain and going AWOL. It was at this time that he adopted the name Rocky Graziano and resumed boxing but the Army caught up with him and sent hin to Leavenworth. After his release he resumed his career, becoming a formidable middleweight prizefighter and by 1945 "Ring" magazine was calling him "the next Joe Louis". In 1947-48 he won, then lost, the middleweight crown to Tony Zale; Rocky fought Sugar Ral Robinson in 1948, narrowly losing the championship bout. After his retiremen, he became a televison regular, co-starring on The Martha Raye Show, Miami Undercover, appearances on I've got A Secret, The Pat Boone Show, Car 54 Where Are You?, Naked City and in the 1967 film Tony Rome. "Somebody Up There Likes Me" was the basis for the 1956 movie of the same name starring Paul Newman (James Dean was originally cast to play Graziano but died before filming began).
