Released in the UK as "Polly Fulton," because "B.F" is a British euphemism for "bloody fool." Polly (Stanwyck) is the daughter of a wealthy industrialist, about to marry a lawyer. Then she meets Tom (Heflin), who blames the world's problems on the rich. Despite their differences, they fall in love and marry. WWII takes Tom to the nation's capital, and their relationship begins to spiral into turmoil. Nominated for an Academy Award. 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine overall.

A graduate of the Parsons School of Design, his paintings were exhibited in the influential 1980 Times Square Show alongside work by Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat, and several of his paintings are held in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Based on the 1956 novel by Nelson Algren. A former artist who now works at an upscale French Quarter bordello is forced to confront her past when her ex-lover arrives in town. One of the first Hollywood films to openly feature a lesbian relationship, between the madam of the bordello (Barbara Stanwyck) and Hallie (Capucine). When a laid-off reporter is asked to write one final column, she fabricates a letter from a John Doe planning on committing suicide on Christmas Eve in protest of society's ills. When the letter becomes a sensation, Ann convinces the papers to hire her back and turns the letters into a series of articles. The only problem is, in order to convince the public John Doe is real, they need to find someone to impersonate him. Enter down-on-his-luck homeless man John Willoughby. 8 x 10 inches. This was Lehman's first produced screenplay, and its plot deviates substantially from the novel. He went on to write Sabrina, North by Northwest, West Side Story, and other films. The film is one of few in Hollywood history without a musical score, but the song "Singin' in the Rain" is sung by Mike Walling while he is off-camera taking a shower. The song appears in many MGM films during the period when its lyricist Arthur Freed was a producer at the studio.
