First Dialogue script for the 1941 British film, copy belonging to Associate Art Director George Provis, with an ink annotation of "July 1941" on the title page. Provenance available upon request. George Provis was a British Art Director and Production Designer who began his career working on quota quickies (low budget features made to comply with Britain's Cinematograph Films Act of 1927) in the 1930s. After the Second World War, Provis was appointed by British film producer Sydney Box to head the art department at Gainsborough Pictures, and is credited on over 120 films. The tenth of eighteen films in the "Old Mother Riley" series, sixteen of which featured Arthur Lucan in the titular role. Old Mother Riley finds herself the ringmaster of a circus whose owner has disappeared and whose finances are flagging. Tall untitled black wrappers with a titled label. Title page present, noted as First Dialogue Script, with credits for screenwriters Con West and Geoffrey Orme. 73 leaves, with last page of text numbered 72. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only.
