In Europe, the genus Pyramidula is much more diverse than generally accepted. The type species, P. rupestris, is wide-spread, but only regionally common. P. jaenensis might be its sister species. In Britain, the most widely distributed and most common continental species, i.e. P. pusilla, is replaced by P. umbilicus; these two taxa could also be considered conspecific subspecies, however. At the second Oberwolfach conference devoted to this important and timely field, scientists from around the world, mainly applied mathematicians and electrical engineers from industry and universities, presented their new results. Their contributions, forming the body of this work, cover electric circuit simulation, device simulation and process simulation. Discussions on experiences with standard software packages and improvements of such packages are included. In the semiconductor area special lectures were given on new modelling approaches, numerical techniques and existence and uniqueness results. In this connection, mention is made, for example, of mixed finite element methods, an extension of the Baliga-Patankar technique for a three dimensional simulation, and the connection between semiconductor equations and the Boltzmann equations.

The Swiss Albert Mousson (1805-1890) was not only an eminent professor in Experimental Physics, but also a famous naturalist, with a focus on land- and freshwater molluscs. He published a series of papers on molluscs between 1847-1888. The geographic scope was world-wide, with special attention given to Java (1849-1850), the Caucasus/Middle East (1859-1876), the tropical Pacific Islands (1865-1873), and the Canary Islands (1872). He was one of the first investigators on the malacofauna of these regions, and because of these pioneering efforts he was able to describe a significant number of new taxa, which today are affiliated to 82 families. He was far ahead of his time in terms of speciation concepts and geographic documentation. Almost all his material was obtained from the collecting efforts of others. Happily, the collection of mousson largely remained intact over time, and is in the possession of the Zoological Museum of the University of Zurich. We present a complete list of the malacological papers of Mousson, give brief biographic notes on the people who provided him with material, list the genus group names introduced by Mousson, and provide a list of eponyms dedicated to mousson. The main part of the paper concerns a catalogue containing all species-group taxa described by Mousson. All taxa are provided with the primary reference, the type locality, the type specimens, and the latest information on their taxonomic position. Of the 700 new species-group names introduced by Mousson, type specimens of 624 could be found back in his collection in Zurich or that of the collection of the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle in Paris. An early and very rare partly manuscript document of the Dersaadet (Constantinople) branch of the Russian Bank for Foreign Trade, on "Joyston Superfine" watermarked paper, signed by the branch manager, with two Ottoman stamps, 38x23,5 cm. In Ottoman script (Old Turkish with Arabic letters). Blank verso, two slight stains on the paper, otherwise, a clean and well-preserved document. Extremely rare in the market and institutional holdings. The official document written by the Dersaadet (Istanbul) branch of the bank to the Turkish Supreme Court regarding the estate of a Greek citizen who was notified to the bank in 1926 and the lawsuit filed between close relatives regarding this inheritance. The Russian Bank for Foreign Trade (??????? ??? ??????? ???????? ????) was one of a group of banks in Saint Petersburg that played an important part in Russian international trade in the second half of the nineteenth century and up to the Russian Revolution between 1871-1917. The bank was one of the largest in Russia prior to the revolution and it was nationalised by a decree of 14 December 1917 leading to a legal battle in France over its deposits in that country. This book presents a state-of-the-art overview on the terrestrial malacofauna of Türkiye. It compiles the knowledge on Turkish landsnails accumulated by a multifold of scientists since Linnaeus as per end 2023. It covers 734 taxa at (sub)species level, distributed over 188 genera belonging to 43 families. 65 % of the terrestrial snails are endemic to the country. Over 2,600 colour photos illustrate all shelled gastropods, many of them are represented by their type specimens. Anatomical drawings of all slug species are incorporated in the text. In addition, 121 highly detailed distribution maps based on 3,300 localities are supplied. The reference list contains more than 2,700 entries, not only on Türkiye but covers large parts of the Near and Middle East.
