Published to accompany the travelling exhibition held at Kirchheim unter Teck (1999), Weimar (2000), and Mariémont, Belgium (2000), the volume places Dorfner's work within the broader development of German Einbandkunst, tracing the transition from the ornamental vocabulary of Jugendstil and Henry van de Velde to the functional and geometric aesthetics of the Bauhaus.
