The text includes their observations on each day, what they discovered, and an interesting note on the text of the expedition.Wookey Hole Caves have been used by humans for around 45,000 years, with Palaeolithic tools and fossilised animals found in them, and evidence of occupation of the caves from the Stone and Iron Age and into Roman Britain.With a foreword by Herbert Balch. Balch was an important archaeologist who explored the caves of Mendip Hills, and pioneered many techniques for modern caving. He led excavations at Wooley from 1904 to 1914.
