Polished half-calf with leather title labels, gilt titles and foliate motifs to compartments; marbled boards and matching edges. Joints cracked but holding well to Vol II; first gathering Vol I loose but still attached by the cords. Armorial bookplate of Francis Garnham to each front paste-down; minor scattered foxing, heavier to endpapers, otherwise contents clean. A very good set. Observations from a 4-month journey in the Tarentaise and parts of Savoy, with observations on the landscape, inhabitants and geology, hitherto little visited by British tourists.
