The collected letters of William Wilkie Collins, an English novelist and playwright. He is best known for the mystery and early sensation novel The Woman in White (1860), and for The Moonstone (1868), which established many of the ground rules of the modern detective novel and is also perhaps the earliest clear example of the police procedural genre. Volume one contains an introduction, chronology, editorial principles, and letters from 1831 to 1864. Volume two contains letters from 1865 to 1873. Volume three contains letters from 1874 to 1883.
