Their appeal -- conjuring images of afternoons in homey tearooms or elegant gatherings in grand hotels -- is universal. But a new generation of teapots has stood tradition on its ear. As author Leslie Ferrin says, "Today the teapot has one foot in the kitchen and the other in the art world." "For the artist, making a teapot provides daunting challenges. As the various parts -- body, lid, handle, spout and foot -- are assembled, each creator must solve technical difficulties within the context of design, function and scale. As a result, teapots are the objects with which artists in all media demonstrate the heights of their technical and creative abilities." "Teapots Transformed: Exploration of an Object tells the tale of this art form, from the traditional, functional teapot to an eclectic mix of contemporary designs. The exhilarating collection is presented in more than 120 vivid full-color photographs. The book will delight tea drinkers around the world, while providing inspiration for artists and a visual feast for the growing number of teapot collectors. In den WarenkorbCloth. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Fine. Bruce Bailey (illustrator). First edition. Three fascinating first edition volumes from the 'The Darwen County History Series'; examining the history of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, and Huntingdonshire. 'A History of Northamptonshire' was written by the renowned local historian Ronald Leslie Greenall, with drawings and cartography by Bruce Bailey. This work provides a fascinating introduction 'for the serious local historian', charting the local events of this rural country against the backdrop of the broader, national history of the period. 'A History of Warwickshire' was written by the notable geographer and researcher Terry Slater who specialised in English medieval town planning and town-plan analysis. The cartography in this work was produced by Jean Dowling, with marginal drawings provided by Tom Grogan. Whilst detailing the renowned tourist sites of this renowned county (such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle and Kenilworth Castle), this work also details lesser-known sights of historic interest that add to the rich and varied history of Warwickshire. 'A History of Huntingdonshire' was written by the freelance genealogist, researcher and historian Michael Wickes, with drawings by Brian Percival and cartography by Michael Nix. This work is centred on one of England's smallest counties, that nonetheless boasts a rich and varied history. Within this work Wickes charts the county's story from prehistoric times to the present day, specifically focusing on the notable figures who lived in the area in the seventeenth century. Complete with the original price-clipped dustwrappers. Collated, complete with numerous in-text illustrations and: Twenty two pages of plates to 'A History of Northamptonshire', two of which are in colour. Twenty two pages of plates to 'A History of Warwickshire', two of which are in colour. Twenty four pages of plates to 'A History of Huntingdonshire' two of which are in colour. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with original price-clipped dustwrapper. Externally lovely, with minor shelfwear to head and tail of spine. Dustwrappers lovely, with only minor shelfwear to extremities. Price label tipped to front fly leaf of wraps. Internally firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean throughout. Fine. book.
