He is sorry to learn that she has given up her restaurant in Honiton, 'Deer Park': 'It was a lovely place and without doubt the finest English cooking we've found.' He ends by informing her that his wife has returned to California for the winter, on account of her health. 'So I'm alone with the two poodles.' Eileen M.
