Meer dan dertig jaar geleden stierven de Przewaski-paarden of Takhi?s zoals de Mongolen ze noemen in het wild uit doordat hun territorium steeds meer door rondtrekkende herders in beslag werd genomen en door de jacht. Gelukkig waren er mensen die een plan ontwierpen om dit laatste wilde paardenras te redden. Zij besloten takhi?s die in dierentuinen leefden terug te brengen naar een groot leefgebied met veel gras en helder water en zonder mensen. Zo?n gebied vind je nog op de steppen van Mongolie. In 1992 werden de eerste paarden uit Nederland naar Mongolie gebracht. Nu zwerven er weer vijftig Takhi?s dagelijks over de steppe. De kudde groeit op natuurlijke wijze en er worden ook nog steeds paarden naar Mongolie gebracht. Het is dus gelukkig toch goed gegaan met deze prachtige wilde paarden. Nieuw. 0 g.
