Während des Ersten Weltkrieges arbeitete er bei Joseph Babinski am Hôpital Pitié Salpêtrière in Paris, wo er mit traumatischen Nervenverletzungen in Berührung kam und 1915 das später nach ihm benannte Froment-Zeichen bei einer Schädigung des Nervus ulnaris beschrieb.
