The organic farming is mainly aimed at supplementary and complementary approach to the existing production systems specially focused on niche crops and areas (5 to 10%) having low input use systems. Agro climatically India represents 15 major agro-climatic zones and 127 NARP zones. But the technologies for pursuing the organic production are scattered and not available at one place. Therefore, an attempt was made by the editors to synthesize the all available technologies and strategies with special reference to 15 agro-climatic zones of the country. The first chapter of the book deals with general issues highlighting the status of organic farming in India specially the prospects, technologies and strategies in general and major concerns in particular. Chapter two and three deals with the status, prospects scope, strategies and technological evidences of organic farming in western Himalayan region involving Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand in particular with few references to Jammu and Kashmir state too. In chapter four, various concerns of organic farming with technological evidences and strategies are discussed with special reference to North Eastern States of India. The chapter five highlights the prospects, technologies and strategies of organic farming in West Bengal. In chapter six the organic farming related issues, prospects, technologies and strategies are discussed with special references to Bihar and some emphasis on Jharkhand and Eastern U.P. In chapter seven, the organic farming related issues, experimental evidences, technological advances and strategies are discussed in respect of upper Gangatic plain zone in general and western Uttar Pradesh in Particular.

Hardcover. Zustand: New. 1st Edition. Conservation Agriculture (CA) aims to achieve sustainable and gainful agriculture by improving farmer's livelihood through the adoption of the three principles, i.e. minimum soil disturbance, need-based residue retention and profitable crop rotation. A series of experiments and studies with CA principles applicable to varying crops and soil agro-ecologies have been conducted, but the documentation of system based standardized CA practices remains essential. The present publication deals with the scope and significance of refinement, adoption and dissemination of CA in Indian vis-à-vis global context. Through this book, an attempt has been made to help readers to gain a precise understanding of the role of mechanization and the necessity for suitable modifications in the existing machinery for efficient residue recycling, crop establishment, optimized nutrient and water use, and weed management. Highlighting the collective work of various CA researchers, this reference book helps to understand the aspects like dynamics of macro and micro-nutrients along with the desired management alterations as per the CA principles. For the wider adoption of CA, location-specific crop diversification suited for different soil types has also been discussed in the book. The approaches like integrated farming system and organic farming in conjunction with CA principles for enhanced resource recycling, sustained livelihood in long-term perspective has been documented in the book. The impact of CA on soil quality, technologies designed for adaptation/mitigation for climate vulnerability, economics and system sustainability has been the focal point in the present book.

Hardcover. Zustand: New. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: New. 1st Edition. India has achieved self sufficiently in food grain production in recent years with record production of 250 mt during 2011-12. However the pulses production remained low and considered to be the major concern for researchers and development planners. Considering the much more importance in near future and to avoid pulses crisis situation the present attempt was made to compile the available scientific information so as to highlight the issues, technologies and strategies in the title of "Solving Pulses Crisis" in India. The publication is divided into two parts. The first part deals national issues, technologies and strategies while the second part deals with crop based issue and technologies. The first part consists of 13 chapters. The first three chapters deals with pulses related national issues, technologies and strategies including NEH region too. The chapter IV deals with crop diversification involving pulses while chapter V focused on pulses production under organic system. The issues related to legumes as a nutrient supplement in chapter VI, tillage and crop establishment in chapter VII water management in pulses in chapter VIII and integrated nutrient management in chapter IX are discussed in detail. The aspects of weed and pest management are presented in chapter X to XI, respectively. The specific issues related to post harvest value addition are discussed in chapter XII. while trade related policy issues are focused in chapter XIII. In part second, the crop issues, strategies and technologies are presented. Accordingly chapter XIV deals with pigeonpea while in chapter XV issues related to greengram and black gram are discussed. The chapter XVI to XIX deals with chickpea, lentil, field pea and lathyrus while in chapter XX the issues technologies and prospects of Guar are discussed. In last chapter XXI the issues and technologies related to arid legumes.
