An incredible photoessay of a rising star among the world's nations. This is a singular copy on several counts. It was gifted to Senator Howard Cannon (Nevada) one of the USA Senate's senior members from World War II through the 1980's. His signature stamp is neatly on the rear end paper. Tipped in a related memento: a 1965 invitation from Saudi Arabian Ambassador Al-Sowayel to attend a reception Sept 3, 1965 at the Saudi Arabian Embassy honoring US Ambassador Designate to Greece, Phillips Talbot. A check mark indicates the reception was attended. Such opportunities afforded the respective nations' attendees to meet and discuss mutual interests. Robert Azzi of Exeter is a freelance photographer who has covered the Middle East and writes about Islam and issues of identity. This is his first book of photography. From an on-line posting: "Prince Abdullah Bin Faisal Bin Turki Al-Saud has never been an official spokesman for his government. In fact, his training is as an engineer. At present he is chairman of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, responsible for administering all logistical services to the Kingdom's two showplace industrial cities, Jubail with 50, 000 inhabitants and Yanbu with 30, 000. Robert Azzi is a photojournalist, columnist and public speaker who lives in Exeter NH. An Arab American Muslim, he writes on issues of identity, conflict, and Islam, particularly as they apply in the Middle East and the Global South. Born in New Hampshire, he's lived in Beirut, Cairo, Athens, Jeddah and New York. Although he returned to the Granite State in the late 1980s, he continues to travel to visit and work in the Middle East. Azzi has been a Nieman Fellow in Journalism at Harvard University, He has also served terms as a member of the Leadership Council of the Harvard Divinity School and as an advisor to Tufts University's Fletcher School committee on Islam and South-West Asia.
