A.J. H. Duganne (1823-1884) was an American poet, playwright, novelist and Civil War diarist. He was instrumental in the founding of the "Know Nothing Party" , was a colonel in the 17th New York Vols in the Civil War during which time he was captures and spend time an a Confederate prison camp. On June 23, 1863, he became a POW and spent thirteen months in various Texas prison camps. He is the author of, Camps and Prison (1865), a vivid account of his war experiences.
