Includes a handwritten letter from 1836 mounted on the front free endpaper from a Gorden Gill someone named Oliveira, discussing the importance of Cicero and presenting the books as a token of friendship. Bookplate of Hamilton White Swift is inside the front cover of each volume. Covers rubbed, vellum darkened as typical but bindings not splayed, spines of first two volumes have a couple of drops of white paint, sound bindings, clean pages with just a few light traces of foxing to a handful of pages, pencil notes on blank at the end of third volume, no other markings. Halbledereinband. Editio quarta. Es handelt sich hierbei um ein Nachschlagewerk, das in Themenbereichen geordnete Stichworte, die in den Texten Ciceros auftauchen, erläutert (immer auf Latein). Jedes Wort ist mit einer Stellenangabe versehen. Am weitläufigsten ist die Abteilung zur "Latinität". Von besonderem Interesse kann die Graeca-Auflistung sein, die griechische Vokabeln auflistet und zugleich Ciceros Umgang (Übersetzung) thematisiert. Das Werk erschien im Zeitalter der Enzyklopädien und könnte als eine Art Wörterbuch präsentiert werden. Sprachwissenschaftlich sehr interessant. Mit einem Signet auf dem Titelblatt. Gedruckt im Waisenhaus Halle. Beinhaltet: Index Legum, quarum in libris Ciceronis nominatim mentio fit; Index Geographicus (mit Angabe der 35 römischen Tribus/Tribus Rom. Das Buch befindet sich äußerlich leider in einem sehr schlechten Zustand. Es sind nur noch Reste des goldgeprägten Halbledereinbandes zu erkennen. Die Buchdeckel, samt marmorierter Vorsätze, sind aber noch vorhanden. Mit Eigentumsvermerken auf dem fliegenden Blatt und auf dem titelblatt (hier in alter Hand). Der Buchblock selber befindet sich aber noch in einem sehr guten Zustand (mit Ausnahme der letzten Blätter, die kleine Fehlstellen aufweisen). Siehe Foto. 910 Seiten.
