J. befindet sich ein Artikel [.] gegen die Milzexstirpationen an Thieren, gegen die über diese Versuche gehaltene Rede, und gegen die Thierquälereien, welche die hiesigen Studenten verüben sollen. Da ich das physiologische Experimental-Institut der hiesigen Universität dirigire, und der Einzige (so viel ich weiß) in Deutschland bin der einen öffentlichen Vortrag über die Exstirpation der Milz gehalten hat, so kann sich jener Ausfall auf Niemand als auf mich beziehen. Ich nehme mir daher die Freiheit, Ew. Hochwohlgeboren zu melden, daß die hiesige medicinische Facultät beschlossen hat, gegen den fraglichen Ausfall, als eine Verläumdungen und Lügen enthaltene Ehrverletzung des Lehrers und der Studirenden, klagbar einzuschreiten, wenn es nicht gelingen sollte, auf kürzerem Wege den Namen des Einsenders zu erfahren. Ew. Hochwohlgeboren können sich leicht selbst überzeugen, wenn Sie es der Mühe werth achten, in welchem Grade unwahr jener Ausfall ist, der hier allgemeine Indignation erregt hat, wenn Sie über die bei der Versammlung der Naturforscher in Berlin von mir gehaltene Rede [.] vergleichen, oder den Abdruck der Rede in Heckers Annalen der Heilkunde 1828 Decemberheft, durchblättern wollen. Urtheile bewährter Männer über meine Versuche finden sich in [.] fast allen medicinischen Zeitschriften. Das beiliegende hiesige Wochenblatt enthält ein Schreiben des Herrn von Humboldt, worin er sein günstiges Urtheil mit der freundschaftlichen Gewogenheit wiederholt, welche ich mir gerade durch jene beschieene Rede über die Milz erworben habe.
