A huge reference to the little known war between England and the preeminent naval power of the time, the Netherlands. The six volumes are uniformly bound in half-blue buckram with ivory buckram to remainder. The upper boards have the Society's emblem in gilt and gilt lettering to the spines. he spine-strips are lightly sunned and the ivory cloth lightly soiled. Fore and lower page edges have been only lightly trimmed in places. Some of the upper page gatherings remain uncut, this would be easily corrected with care. Text-blocks and pages are in very good order. There is a little toning to the pastedowns and preliminary pages. Some light foxing is present to the extremes of the fore-margins of various pages. Private bookplate to pastedown of Vol.III & IV. Vol.V has a scuff to head of spine with very slight loss (1mm).
