Ata Nutku graduated from the Naval Academy's Naval Architecture Department in 1923. In the early years of the Republic of Turkey, he played a pivotal role in advancing shipbuilding both in the country and at Istanbul Technical University. His efforts were instrumental in the design and construction of the first ship built in Turkey.
