In den WarenkorbFIRST EDITION, occasional light spots to page borders, a minor correction (probably authorial) to p. xv, a few marginal marks in pencil by David Cecil (see below), pp. xvi, 162, crown 8vo, original blue cloth, lettered in gilt to upper board and backstrip, a sliver of waterstaining at head of lower board, spots of discolouration… to backstrip, good. Inscribed by the Editor on the flyleaf, to the author and literary scholar, David Cecil: 'David, from Cynthia, 1934' - note below directs him, 'For 'Julia', do not read Julia Maguire' (i.e., the great granddaughter of Sir Robert Peel). The anthology includes work by two of Asquith's most notable literary friends J.M. Barrie, to whom she was secretary, and D.H. Lawrence. There is a family connection between author's presentation of this copy and the work's printed dedication, the latter being 'To the memory of Guendolen Cecil' - i.e., the wife of Algernon Cecil, David Cecil's first cousin, once removed.

In den WarenkorbFIRST EDITION, a few corrections to the text (made by Sir Edward Marsh, see below), pp. xvi, 162, crown 8vo, original blue cloth, lettered in gilt to upper board and backstrip, the latter very slightly faded, publisher device blind-stamped to lower board, dustjacket a little chipped, browned and soiled, good. Inscribed by the Ed…itor on the flyleaf: 'Eddie, with love from Cynthia, 1934'; the recipient was Sir Edward Marsh, translator and literary editor as well as patron of the arts and civil servant (most notably as Churchill's secretary). A laid-in ALs from Asquith to the same, on her headed paper and dated Oct 26th 1934, presents the book 'with so much thanks for your invaluable help', whilst a note at the foot remarks her shift 'to the less congenial task of a synopsis of the King's reign! "He walks in What?"' Marsh's corrections restore a line missing from a passage of Pope's verse, but otherwise notes a few small typographical errors. The help he offered was probably as Rupert Brooke's literary executor. The anthology includes work by two of Asquith's most notable literary friends J.M. Barrie, to whom she was secretary, and D.H. Lawrence, to whom Marsh introduced her.
