Zustand: new. Pages: 328 Language: Estonian. Vorbuse mõisas 1674. aastal Rootsi sõjakomissari peres sündinud Arvid Moller (1674-1758) sai hariduse Tartus Lyceum Carolinum'is ja Tartu ülikoolis. Ta õppis vanu keeli, matemaatikat ja õigusteadust ning huvitus Põhjamaades kõneldud keeltest. Moller tegutses õppejõuna Tartu lütseumis ja Academia Gustavo-Carolina's, hiljem Tallinnas, kust siirdus 1710. aastal Rootsi. Tema saatuseks oli pääseda eluga sõjast, näljast ja katkust, õpetada professorina Uppsalas moraali ja Lundi ülikoolis praktilist filosoofiat, pidades vahepeal ka rektoriametit. 1743. aastal läks ta pensionile ning tegeles Eesti- ja Liivimaa olusid ja ajalugu Rootsi lugejale kirjeldava raamatu koostamisega. Selle esimene osa on Eesti- ja Liivimaa ajaloolis-topograafiline kirjeldus, teine - "Fata Dorpati" - aga räägib Tartu linna saatusest. Tartu loo mahukaim osa jääb autori eluaega ning nõnda on tegemist esimeste säilinud memuaaridega Tartu linnast.
