Unless I am mistaken, our author, Arthur Newton Pack, is the son of Charles Lathrop Pack, the conservationist and philatrophist who did so much for the preservations of special tracts of forests in the Adirondacks. I am pleased to offer: "Our Vanishing Forests" by Arthur Newton Pack, a plea to the American public to recognize the importance of forests to this country and the possibilities of improving their management. The book is well illustrated with very nicely presented visual plates, each well captioned about particular issues affecting U.S. forests, that is, at the turn of the nineteenth century. Please excuse the fact that some of my photos appear yellow; the pages themselves are not. Sometimes, technology gets ahead of this old bird! Condition: This book is in very good condition plus. The hard covers are clean and bright and the gilt titles on the spine still glossy and handsome. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages and plates are clean and bright throughout, without toning or foxing. There is some light and scarce foxing on the front endpaper, but nothing serious.
