In den WarenkorbFirst edition, first printing. Signed by the author Walter Lewis Emanuel to the illustrator Sidney Sime. Original beige cloth with titles in gilt to the spine and upper board, the boards decorated in gilt. Illustrated throughout in black and white throughout by various artists. A good copy, the binding firm although split to the cloth at the rear hinge, the spine somewhat rolled. The contents, with cracking to the inner gutter (the webbing exposed), and some spotting to the early and late pages and occasionally throughout, are otherwise clean and, save for Emanuel's inscription to Sime, free from stamps and inscriptions. An interesting presentation copy. With a gift inscription on the front free endpaper from the writer and humorist Walter Lewis Emanuel to the illustrator Sidney Sime. Emanuel was later published in 'The Butterfly' as well as 'Punch', and is known for his humorous dog books, some of which were illustrated by Cecil Aldin. Sime was also later published in 'The Butterfly', and he illustrated a number of Emanuel's pieces that were published in 'The Idler'. The first six issues in one volume of 'The Butterfly', an art and literature periodical edited by L. Raven-Hill and Arnold Golsworthy featuring paintings, drawings, verse and prose, much of which has a decidedly humorous leaning. It ran from 1893-1894 and again from 1899-1900. Vintage borderless reference photograph for the 1968 film, showing director William Friedkin talking with actress Britt Ekland on the set. From the archive of film historian and author Joel Finler. Based on the 1960 novel by Rowland Barber. A mildly exaggerated history of the creation of the striptease, and the downfall of 1920s-era burlesque clubs, in which an Amish girl performing Bible story dances at a burlesque club is being taken advantage of by the club's owner in order to mock public decency-enforcing police officers, and who accidentally invents the striptease when she tears her costume. Shot in 58 days and edited for 9 months, the film's budget exceeded $3 million, making it the most expensive film shot in New York City at the time. Elliot Gould's film debut, and Bert Lahr's last film, as he died during production. Set and shot on location in New York City. 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine. Olive Films 915.

Vintage double weight photograph of James Stewart and Jean Arthur from the 1939 film. Mimeo snipe, stamp crediting photographer Al Schafer, and very faint "Approved" stamp on the verso. Controversial among the political American establishment at the time for its (accurate, then and now) depiction of the Senate as a group of dysfunctional, shallow egotists, the film was also banned in fascist countries Germany, Italy, Spain, and the USSR, and, later, Nazi occupied France. Set in and shot on location in Washington DC. 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine, with faint diagonal crease to lower right.
