Signed by editor Stephen Jones, illustrators Jon Arfstrom and Andrew Smith, and contributors Nancy Holder, Nancy Kilpatrick, Tom Monteleone, Kim Newman, and Peter Straub on the limitation page. Charles L. Grant (1942-2006) was one of the most influential and distinctive voices in American horror fiction of the late twentieth century, celebrated in particular for pioneering what became known as "quiet horror" — a mode that eschewed graphic violence and shock in favour of a slow, atmospheric accumulation of dread, most often grounded in ordinary domestic settings and the quiet, unresolved grief of characters who have lost someone or something irreplaceable. A three-time World Fantasy Award and two-time Nebula Award winner, Grant was named a Grand Master by the World Horror Convention in 2002 and received the Horror Writers Association's Lifetime Achievement Award, cementing his standing as one of the genre's most respected craftsmen even as his relatively understated approach kept him from the wider commercial recognition achieved by some louder contemporaries. Scream Quietly, assembled by his friend and fellow anthologist Stephen Jones following Grant's death in 2006, gathers more than thirty stories and novellas spanning his nearly four-decade career, and stands, in the assessment of reviewers, as "the definitive edition of Charles L. Grant's short fiction." Fine in near fine slipcase. Volume presents like new, pristine condition. Slipcase shows some very mild shelf markings, else free from imperfections.
