The planned publications of volumes IV and V were not published - with work done later issued in supplemetary form. Included here are Vols I, II and VI - lacking only Vol III of the 4 volumes published. Paged xiii, [2], 556; ix, [3], 300; xlvii, 420 pp. This set is lacking and defective thus. The large foldout panorama view in colored lithograph of Santiago from Santa Lucia is missing from Vol I (Chile) and 14 of the 15 hand colored bird plates are missing from Vol II. All other plates, maps and views are present. Uniformly bound in 1/2 olive green calf over marbled paper covered boards with black leather title labels to spines and Vol #s in blind apparently with gilt rubbed away. Pages 178 - 205 of Vol II from which are missing the color bird lithographs are gapping with some prior attempts at resewing not done well. Several of these pages detached, laid in and starting at the edges. Prior ownership of a University literary society with blind stamps to front endpages of the library and a bookplate to front matter of Vol I but no evidence of library accession; i. E. , no attachments or labels. Soundly bound with light handling rub to leather at extremities. Good thus given the lack of some plates. . Volumes bumped at crowns with light cracks to leather of 2 volumes. Some light to moderate foxing and toning to endpages; contents generally bright and very neat.
