In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Original green cloth covered slipcase 11x17x3cm, titled in white with the League of Arab States emblem. Designed by Michael Rice and Company, and printed in England by Garrod and Lofthouse. This contains 18 booklets, o/w 15 describing each member 12pp each illustrated with b/w photos and maps, one the Arab League 12pp, and 2 of their Heads of State 3pp photo portraits. Near fine, lightly rubbed. Undated c1969/70. The members at that time included: Algeria, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, South Yemen, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, UAR Egypt, Yemen, and Palestine. The booklets present data and events up to 1969, with forecasts from 1970. Thus Jordan's and to a lesser degree Syria's also cover the impacts of Israeli occupation in the aftermath of the Six Day War; Saudi's notes Faisal's succession to the throne; Iraq's the constitution of 1968; Egypt's the new cabinet system; and Libya's the creation of the Arab Republic in 1969. The maps show the location of each country, roads, airports etc. Texts describe politics, geography, economy, tourism, infrastructure etc. They appear also to be targeted at potential UK-based investors, business travellers and tourists, giving embassy addresses in London, and exchange rates to the Sterling. This would lead into the League's Economic Council initiative in the early 1970s to create Joint Arab Chambers of Commerce across Europe, with the Arab British Chamber launching in 1975. The Palestine booklet includes a history to the present, the role of the Palestine Liberation Movement, UN bodies etc. The League of Arab States booklet describes its background, formation, composition, and organisation. This appears to be rare, with Worldcat and Library Hub locating 4 between them (BL; NLS; National Trust; Oxford University).

In den WarenkorbFirst edition, first printing, of this volume introducing the history, geography, economy, and society of each member state of the Arab League. It was produced in the wake of the organization's 22nd anniversary. This work covers the 13 countries that made up the Arab League in the late 1960s: Algeria, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Republic (now Egypt), and Yemen. It also contains a section about Palestine, which the league supported with the 1965 Casablanca Protocol. This treaty attempted to standardize the legal protections of Palestinian refugees, and the section in this present volume is focused on Arab expulsions from the West Bank. It was produced by the Arab Information Center, a subsection of the league headquartered in Cairo, who wrote and distributed many publications to bolster the reputation of Arab countries world-wide. Quarto. Half-tone photographic illustrations, diagrams, and maps in text (some full-page). Original colour-printed pictorial wrappers, wire-stitched as issued. Wrappers creased and rubbed, stitching loose but holding, contents bright: a very good copy.
