When he was young, Guthrie had been a friend of Robert Louis Stevenson, and published, in 1914, an appreciation of "Cummy," Stevenson's nurse. Hand written number 142 of an Edition limited to 500 copies, originally consisted of a series of articles which appeared in the Juridical Review, and, owing to the lamented death of Lord Guthrie in April 28th, 1920, is now issued without the benefit of his personal supervision. SIGNED 'M. A. Green,' Chairwoman, W. Green & Son, Ltd., Edinburgh, August 1920. The de Havilland Goblin, originally designated as the Halford H-1, is an early turbojet engine designed by Frank Halford and built by de Havilland. The Goblin was the second British jet engine to fly, after the Power Jets W.1, and the first to pass a type test and receive a type certificate issued for an aircraft propulsion turbine. Contents and monochrome illustrations [some fold-out] and photographs appear at the beginning of each chapter. A short novel written by Robert Louis Stevenson and his stepson Lloyd Osbourne which was published the year Stevenson died. Contains pp. 237 + [20pp publisher's catalogue dated August 1894]. Folded two page hand written letter from Lloyd Osbourne held inside four mounted corners to the front free end paper, probably to his literary agent. Dated February 8th 1909 'My dear Collis?, I am sending you today, under cover, two more stories. 'Bonesay', must not be published in England until August 15th, nor 'Welfare Wicks' before June 1st. 'Bonesay' fits to an exact length, 15,000 words, it is divided nicely into 3 parts, each of 5000. Why not try one of the 'Worriers Wreckers'? in the 'Queen' or '?' or 'The Sphere', might also consider it as a 3 part series. I shall send you another story in a few days.
