Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - When Amélie Allard's world is turned upside down, she finds herself adrift in a sea of change. What once felt safe and familiar has become strange and uncertain. Guided by a quiet, comforting spirit, Amélie must navigate the storm that rages both around her and within her heart.Through poetic… verse and stirring imagery, The Awful Adjustment of Amélie Allard explores what it means to face loss, upheaval, and the unknown, and how courage, patience, and love can guide us toward calmer seas. As Amélie learns to weather her fears, she discovers that healing doesn't mean forgetting what was, but learning to trust what comes next.Written in lyrical rhyming prose, this illustrated picture book captures the emotional landscape of grief and recovery in a way both children and adults can understand. It offers gentle reassurance to any child experiencing change, from moving home, losing someone dear, or facing a new chapter in life, showing that every storm gives way to sunlight, and that new beginnings often bloom from endings. With echoes of classic poetic storytelling and the hope of children's literature, The Awful Adjustment of Amélie Allard is a tender and heartfelt companion for readers of all ages. It reminds us that even when life feels frightening and unfamiliar, the heart has an extraordinary ability to heal, grow, and find peace again.

He is honoured to be asked to talk to the Napier Society (a military history society at Sandhurst), but is 'right in the middle of the Cambridge term', as a Fellow of Churchill College, and so must 'propose a subject which I have already talked about.' He suggests two topics: 'Trade Defence in World War II' and 'Some R…easons for Official History', in the last of which he tries 'to answer criticisms of that form of history and describe the sources I had used and the way I had worked when writing The War at Sea 1939-45'. He ends by warning Brett-James that his deafness makes him 'pretty hopeless in discussion unless I can have somebody to repeat questions to me. With most of my audiences this has worked satisfactorily, so I hope you can make arrangements to overcome my disabilitiy.' Brett-James's official title was 'Head of Department, War Studies & International Affairs, Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst'.
