Zustand: Good. 1st edition. Imitation cloth, dj, VG/G. 192pp, b/w illustrations, edges worn dustjacket a little yellowed & scuffed, boards a little rubbed. An account of midshipman Maurice Hewson's timefighting the French & his capture in September 1803. He spent 5 years in the Fortress at Verdun before escaping, only to be re-captured & sent to the dreaded Citadelle de Bitche from where he escaped in 1808. 825 grams.

Other than that, the book is in like new condition, with hard straight boards, stiff hinges, and clean, crisp pages. Dust jacket is in very fine condition with just the minor amount of fraying on the edges.
