It represents an academic experience based on the articulation of knowledge and interdisciplinary dialogue. For this publication, the individual research groups benefitted from internal expertise and interdisciplinary input, reflecting the collaborative process of the entire team.The SPMM is characterized by the diversity and complementarity of economic, social and environmental functions exercised in its territory, comprising 174 municipalities, with the capital city of São Paulo as its polarizing center. It is structured from a set of five metropolitan regions, two urban agglomerates and one micro-region-not institutionalized-in the State of São Paulo, sheltering around 34 million people who inhabit the richest and economically strongest region in Brazil. The SPMM, one of the urban territorial clusters of greatest expression in the southern hemisphere, is a strategic arena for the formulation and implementation of planning, governance and trans- and multi-scalar regional public policies.The English translation of this book from its Portuguese original manuscript was done with the help of artificial intelligence. El 'Jardín de flores curiosas, en que se tratan algunas materias de humanidad, philosophia, theologia y geographia, con otras curiosas y apacibles' (1.ª ed., 1570), de Antonio de Torquemada, como antes la 'Silva de varia lección' (1.ª ed., 1540), de Pedro Mexía, fue una de las obras de género misceláneo enciclopédico que extendieron esta manera de entender el mundo por el éxito popular (múltiples reimpresiones y traducciones a muchos idiomas desde mediados del siglo XVI hasta finales del siglo XVII ) de explicarlo todo por la intercesión de espíritus, astros y agentes ocultos. Para comprenderlo, basta con repasar el tercero de los tratados de este 'Jardín' de Torquemada dedicado a fantasmas, visiones, trasgos, encantadores, hechiceros, brujas y saludadores, donde se atribuía a las brujas casi todas las torpezas por las que fueron tan perseguidas, pero también al cuarto tratado, sobre la fortuna, los hados y la influencia de los cuerpos celestiales, evidenciando entre ambos tratados el alcance de la transmisión de ese modelo epistemológico de universo neoplatónico.
