FIRST EDITION 1775, 2 volumes, COMPLETE SET. 8vo, approximately 210 x 125 mm, 8 x 5 inches, pages: Volume 1, [4], 1-472; Volume 2, [4], 1-319, [16] - index, both half-titles present, modern reback in lighter leather keeping the original speckled calf boards, gilt lettered labels, gilt rules and gilt volume numbers to spine, engraved armorial bookplate of Lord Walsingham to pastedown of each volume. Original boards darkened and slightly scuffed, corners worn, tip of one corner missing, the others with slight loss of leather and board showing at tips, occasional small spot or mark, pale staining to edges of pastedowns, otherwise a very good tight set. This work written on the eve of the Revolution, suggests that the ready availability of land would keep colonists happy and loyal to Great Britain. The colonies of North America and the British West Indies are treated individually at length. Authorship not definitely established, Sabin list it under the name of Arthur Young.
