Spottiswoode in 1851.In decorative full calf boards, with a presentation inscription dated to 1860 to the front paste down.Very popular in both the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, this curious little book allowed members of Anglican community to pray wherever they were, including both popular readings and gospels, as well as those dedicated to certain dates of the year, such as St. Stephen's Day and Easter Sunday. In full calf. Externally, smart, with the odd small mark to boards. Signs of rubbing to edges, joints, and to the extremities. Slight fading to glit decoration to front board. End papers are generally bright and clean, with slight browning and smudging. Ink inscription to front paste down, with who presented the book grazed off, and a couple of stamped names to rear end papers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with slight age toning, and browning to 'Evening Prayer' section near to beginning of the book. Very Good. None (illustrator). book.

No institutional copies are available of this particular edition.In full calf, with a frontispiece of The Agony in Luke, chapter twenty-two, verse forty-four.Inspired by the original Book of Common Prayer, first published in 1549 during the reign of Edward VI, the book helped affirm the newly established Church of England and was a popular success ever since. This particular scarce edition contains Brady and Tate's equally popular Psalms of David and A Companion to the Altars bound with it. In full calf. Externally, mostly smart, with the odd small mark to boards. Creasing and rubbing to the joints and spine, with spine label having partly rubbed off. Bumping to the head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities. End papers are generally bright and clean, with signs of browning and the small faint spot, lighter to front end papers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with slight age toning and the rare faint spot. Minor browning to the first and final leaves, heavier to first leaves of the Morning Prayer, and the odd small crease to leaf extremities. Good. Candyse (illustrator). book.

Externally, smart, with the odd small fading patch to boards. Minimal marks to brass edges and golden fore-edge. Slight rubbing to joints and bumping to the head and tail of the spine. End papers are generally bright and clean, with the odd smudge small mark and spot. Internally, firmly bound, with wear to hinge between title leaf and contents leaf, and minor wear to hinge between Oct. 13th and 14th leaves. Pages are bright and clean, with a couple of small marks and browning to leaves to the rare leaf at the begnining of the book, heaviest to Third and Fourth Sunday in Advent. Very Good.
