Laing enlarged the collection but passed away before the dictionary could be published. The text finally came to publication through the editorial work of Laing's daughter, with help from W. A. Smith and A. F. Johnson of the British Museum. The eighth and ninth volumes constitute additional supplements to the original collection, compiled by Dennis E. Rhodes and Anna E. C. Simoni. These were published twenty years after the release of the seventh volume. In publisher's original red cloth bindings. Unclipped dust wrapper to Volume IX. Ex-library copies. Each volume features the bookplate of the Devon County Council Reference Library to the front paste down.
