Un autore passato dagli studi storici e giuridici alle grandi promesse di un marxismo storico-politico e filosofico-pedagogico. Ma le promesse intraviste non sempre conoscono la grazia della realizzazione. Capita che arrivi, dopo il tempo illuminante della speranza, il tempo asciutto della delusione. E questo è stato fondamentalmente il cammino declinante di Broccoli. Sempre sospeso, nei suoi scritti e nelle sue Lezioni, tra una trasparenza acuta dell'interpretazione e la fedeltà ad un dato storico spesso refrattario all'immaginazione e alla speranza costruttiva. Non sfuggono a queste caratteristiche le Lezioni che qui si ripropongono, Lezioni in cui la colloquialità accademica si sposa con la sensibilità acuta per un futuro mobile, umbratile, sfuggente. Un futuro da costruire secondo le forme armoniche di un uomo non troppo deformato dall'alienazione economicistica, un uomo immerso in una modernità non ancora placata e talvolta da essa sommerso.
