Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - This anthology of poetry and prose by poets from around the world delves into the many celebrations that begin early in the season and the doldrums and melancholy that winter can bring. There are themes dealing with Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, Valentine's Day, and Moth…er's Day. There are also themes dealing with love, family, memories, and loss, including the loss of a spouse, children, pets, parents, homes, and oneself. We all celebrate and grieve from every corner of the world. While winter may be snowy in one part of the world and stormy in another, and Christmas may be during a cold season in the North and warm in the South, we are all humans and can relate to each other on the simplest levels of joy and grief. On these basic levels, we can comfort and empathize with one another to get through the struggles of what seems cold and dark, just like the months we refer to as 'winter.' Each poet is represented by their dialect and word spelling to demonstrate where they are from. Every poet is housed in their own 'chapter,' which tells a little about them and their location. Curated and edited by Brandy Lane, of Where Beautiful Inks LLC, this is her first collaborative anthology. With special thanks to Julie Keleher for her dedication and hours spent listening to me read poems over and over again to make sure that each one was exactly as it should be written. She has poured love into this book as a shepherd to the poets. I, for one, am grateful.

Zustand: Hervorragend. Zustand: Hervorragend | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | You will quickly realize that there are many layers to Angie's writing and, as a reader, if you really want to dive into the emotional variety of her words, that's impossible to get by reading one or two pieces. If you're discovering her for…the first time through this book, you are likely to go on a binge read in the beginning in a curious exploration of her versatility, as I once did. Getting to know her softness, her toughness and the wide spectrum in between is being able to see her in the words she writes; a unique gift I treasure of knowing her both as a writer but also as someone very dear to my heart. 'Siren' , one of the early pieces in this book, is, in my mind, a classic representation of Angela as a person, a dreamer and a writer. The opening lines of the piece throw the reader, unhesitatingly, into roiling agony and devastation. "That day I threw away the key. in a drunken haze of rage. Destroyed by you-I lay on the floor. I ask myself, How did our love turn to hate?" You are then taken on a journey that is replete with unmissable flairs of poetic brilliance in lines like "A month lost without the algorithm to speak" and "My looking glass was shattered from the lucid ambiance of heart's end." And before long, this piece becomes a smoothly told narrative of courage and resurrection in the face of despair and defeat."I will not allow love to be a weakness. .I will never fear that which is endless. Let the darkness you cast upon me, burn. burn. and cleanse away the impure. For I will continue to believe, in the magic of happiness." While this will feel like a familiar plotline, it is the charisma of Angela's narrative and her ability to pull the reader into her world- that will envelop you as the reader. Summers, SueAnn (illustrator).
