In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. An attractive and collectible July 1921 second printing of My Fifty Years of Golf: Memories, the celebrated memoir of legendary Scottish professional golfer Andra Kirkaldy of St Andrews, as told to Clyde Foster. Originally published in June 1921, this memoir is regarded as one of the classic works of early golf literature. Although this is not the true first printing, it was issued only one month later and remains an early and highly desirable edition for collectors of golfing history. Kirkaldy was one of the leading professionals of the Victorian and Edwardian eras and a central figure at St Andrews, the spiritual home of golf. He finished runner-up in the 1889 Open Championship and knew many of the sport's greatest pioneers personally. His memoir offers a fascinating first-hand account of the "Golden Age" of golf, filled with anecdotes, humour, and personal recollections of legendary figures including Old Tom Morris, as well as the evolution of the game during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The volume is illustrated with 21 photographic and drawn illustrations, depicting famous golfers, historic courses, and memorable moments from golf's formative years. The true June 1921 first edition was produced in relatively small numbers before this July 1921 second printing was issued, making these early editions increasingly sought after by collectors of golf history and sporting books. Condition: Original green cloth binding with gilt lettering. Spine remains intact and sound. Foxing to the page edges. Internal pages are generally clean. Small scribble to page 15. Binding remains firm with the book presenting well overall for its age. Please examine the accompanying photographs carefully, as they form part of the description. Shipping Notice: Please note that international shipping costs are estimated. Additional postage may be required depending on destination due to the size or weight of the book. Any additional costs will be confirmed with the buyer before dispatch.
