Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Walter Grab wandte sich nach seinen Reisen nach Paris um 1948/1950 dem Surrealismus zu. Von den Bildwelten eines Giorgio de Chirico, Salvador Dali, André Masson oder René Magrittes beeinflusst, gründet er 1950 seine eigene Künstlergruppe 'Phoenix'. Dieser schliessen sich neben deutschen und österreichischen Künstlern die Schweizer Surrealisten Kurt Seligmann, Otto Tschumi und Ernst Maass an. Als Teil des international wieder aufflammenden, bereits tot geglaubten Surrealismus erntet Grab in der Schweiz (insbesondere in Zürich) und in Deutschland schon bald Anerkennung. 1965 vertritt er die Schweiz an der 8. Biennale von São Paulo in der Ausstellung «Surrealismo e arte fantástica» zusammen mit Meret Oppenheim.Seine Bildsprache und Handschrift sind unverkennbar: So verschränkt er konstruktiv-geometrische Elemente mit figurativ-narrativen Elementen zu bühnenhaft anmutenden Raumszenerien. Das Leben in allen Gegensätzen zu zeigen war das Credo der Surrealisten und ist offenbar auch dasjenige von Walter Grab.
