In 1976 he became involved with the new underground publishing movement, and since 1978 he has been co-editor of PULS, one of the first uncensored periodicals to have appeared in Poland. His first two books, Dead Telephone Games (1976) and Temporizing (1979), were brought out by state publishing houses, but the present volume was not submitted to the censors and the Polish original was published simultaneously in 1983 by PULS in London and by the underground printing house Krag inside Poland.'
