Kenelm Edward Lee Guinness MBE (14 August 1887 - 10 April 1937) was an Irish-born racing driver of the 1910s and 1920s mostly associated with Sunbeam racing cars. He set a new Land Speed Record in 1922. Also an automotive engineer, he invented and manufactured the KLG spark plug. A member of the Guinness brewing family, and a director of the company, he lived and died in Putney Vale, and was buried at the nearby cemetery, bordering Putney Heath (Smiths Motor Accessories Ltd.,).

George England, Robert Fairlie and The Hatcham Iron Works
Hood, William Grahame [George England (c. 1811-1878) was an English businessman and engineer. He founded George England and Co., a steam locomotive manufacturing business based in Hatcham, New Cross] Robert Francis Fairlie (either March 1831 or 5 April 1830 - 31 July 1885) was a Scottish-born railway engineer. He is chiefly known for the invention of the Fairlie double-bogie articulated locomotive.

The South Metropolitan Gas Works was the last gas works to be built in London, the brainchild of George Livesey. He receiv…ed parliamentary permission to build the works on 140 acres of Greenwich Marshes in the December of 1880. In keeping with Livesey's religious ideals, frivolous decorative features were not a part of his grand design for the works; however the two gas holders were the biggest in Europe. Contains colour frontispiece, 10, 279 printed pages of text with 2 other colour plates, many monochrome illustrations and photographs throughout. In Very Good clean and bright condition. Within 15 years, British families will have to start phasing out gas cookers, fires and boilers as the UK has to meet new tougher targets aimed at halting rises in global temperature, makes this book interesting to the grand-children of the future. Sanjana was an Indian scholar and Zoroastrian head-priest (Dastur). He was Principal of the Sir Jamshedji Jijibhoy Zartoshti (Zoroastrian) Madressa (seminary…) in Bombay, and the Dastur ('high-priest') of the Wadia Atash Behram (fire temple). He was one of the most learned high-priests and authorities on Pahlavi of his time. In 1904 this Festschrift was published in his honour with an introduction by Edward William West. Contains tissue-guarded frontispiece, 262 pp + lxxxiv pp Appendix in old Persian. Two indigo stamps 'N. M. Contains 258 printed pages of text with monochrome illustrations and archive photographs throughout. Camm was President of the Royal Aeronautical Society(RAeS) from 1954 to 1955. Sin…ce 1971 the RAeS has held the biennial Sir Sydney Camm Lecture in June, given by the current commander-in-chief of RAF Air Command. He retired as chief designer at Hawker in 1965 and was succeeded by the editor of this book, John W. Fozard, however, he remained on the board of its successor, Hawker Siddeley until his death. Before he died, Camm was planning the design of an aircraft to travel at Mach 4, having begun his life in aircraft design with the building of a man-carrying glider in 1912, just nine years after the first powered flight. In 1966, he was awarded the Guggenheim Gold Medal, which had to be presented posthumously. Fine condition book in Fine condition dust wrapper. SIGNED by the author and Ralph Hooper [Harrier] to a fellow designer to the title page 'For Harry Frazer-Mitchell - Longtime and valued member of the design team in Jump - Jet alley, With all good wishes and warmest regards John W. Fozard, January 1994', also SIGNED 'Ralph Hooper'. Loosely enclosed is a signed pristine signature penned in blue fountain ink on a 5.75 x 2.5 inch custom made white collectors card SIGNED 'S.
