Minor browning to the covers. The author and curator John Golding maintains here that Ozenfant was unjustly overlooked by the French art establishment. With images of many of the works in the exhibition some of them in colour, a chronology of Ozenfant's life, a bibliography, and a list of the works in the exhibition AmÈdÈe Ozenfant was a French cubist painter and writer.Together with Charles-Edouard Jeanneret he founded the Purist movement.

Französischer Maler und Kunstschriftsteller. Er studierte in Paris und schloß sich dem Kubismus an. Mit Le Corbusier begründete er den Purismus, den er auch als Schriftsteller und an den von ihm in Paris (1930), London (1935) und New York (1939) gegründeten Schulen vertrat. Er malte vor allem Stilleben, ab 1926 auch figürliche Kompositionen. / 1915 gründete Ozenfant die Zeitschrift LElan, die er bis 1917 herausgab. Hier erschienen seine ersten Gedanken zum Purismus. Charles-Edouard Jeanneret, der sich später Le Corbusier nannte, lernte er 1917 kennen. In Après le cubisme und La Peinture moderne (1925) stellten sie gemeinsam den Purismus dar. Die Zeitschrift LEsprit Nouveau war von 1920 bis 1925 ihr Sprachrohr. 1922 gehörte Ozenfant zu den Autoren der von El Lissitzky und Ilja Ehrenburg konzipierten kurzlebigen Zeitschrift Gegenstand, die sich dem Dialog von Künstlern verschiedener Nationalitäten verschrieben hatte. Sein Werk Art erschien 1928. Alexandra Exter, Marie Laurencin, Fernand Léger betrieben mit ihm ab 1924 ein Künstlerstudio in Paris.
